Message from the President
I, Prof PK Sasidharan, wholeheartedly welcome all the delegates and faculty for the upcoming European Hematology Association (EHA) tutorial in collaboration with the Indian Society of Hematology to be held at Hyderabad, India. Like the previous tutorials held in India before, this too is going to be immensely beneficial to all the participants. The objective of any educational program is to bring about some desirable changes in the behavior of the learners. The desirable changes should be socially relevant and economically feasible in the places of their work and practice. The objective of the tutorial is knowledge sharing and becoming aware of the latest trends in diagnosing and managing hematological problems, but we should also deliberate on how to modify that while working in both private and government organization and in resource poor settings as in India, where universal medical insurance is still not achieved, and out of pocket expenditure is mandatory for treatment. Even with enough resources and cutting-edge technology, clinical skill and clinical judgment are still key to diagnosis, decision making and management and there is a need to individualize all diagnostic and management plans, rather than blindly sticking on to algorithms and protocols alone. Wishing all the best to the delegates and faculty for this great academic event.
